Our Garden

I'm obsessed with growing vegetables. This year is the first time I've ever attempted anything beyond some basic herbs. We had a small raised bed built in our backyard so we could plant some veggies. I love spending the afternoons and evenings out there tending to my little garden. Lauren loves going outside, she has her little plastic trowel and spade and happily transfers dirt and mulch from one pile to the other. Here's what our garden looks like so far.

Our raised vegetable bed. We are growing tomatoes, romaine lettuce, carrots, jalapeno and serrano peppers and bell peppers. We're also growing (not pictured) eggplant, crookneck (yellow) squash and corn. The corn was really just for fun...we wanna see how tall the corn stalks will grow and if they will be visible from the street. heh. We planted 6 seedlings...so far they're only about a foot tall.

My "Simon and Garfunkel" herb garden (Parsley, Sage, Rosemary Thyme) and Romaine Lettuce
My herb garden also has spearmint, chocolate mint (it really smells like chocolate!), marjoram, basil, Thai basil, lemon basil, and oregano.

Jose Jalapeno...On a steeek! (that's for you Jeff Dunham fans)

We are growing about 5 different varieties of tomatoes.

Our dwarf Kalamandon (Calamansi) Tree. We've also got dwarf Meyer Lemon, Asian Pear, and Apple trees

So far we've only eaten lettuce and strawberries. The berries are small but super sweet. Like Lauren! Aww.

this looks soo good! Mark is trying to build his own "herb garden" as well. So far, we have Basil and parsley- and they're in pots. he's cute about it though, and I could use the fresh herbs when I cook. I leave this all to him because plants die when I even look at them.

Haha Cute, I can picture Mark tending to his plants. Basil and parsley have worked well for me in pots. Good luck! It's so nice to be able to go out to pick fresh herbs for cooking. Saves money too!
