Tricks are for kids!

We were about to settle in for the night when Lauren surprised us with a magic trick and made a fridge magnet disappear (into her armpit! Ha!) I don't know if my sister taught her or if she just made it up on her own, but it's so friggin' cute I had to share.

Ice Cream Heaven

I was in the kitchen when I heard these weird hyperventilating/wheezing noises. I thought Lauren was having some kind of attack...turns out she just discovered the chocolate covered goodness of It's It and she was in Ice Cream Heaven. Have you ever had an It's It? It's vanilla ice cream sandwiched between 2 chocolate covered oatmeal cookies. It's Peter's FAVORITE and it looks like it's going to be Lauren's too.

Guitar Hero

I've mentioned the musical genes that run through my family...looks like they're going strong in the next generation. Here's a video of my nephew's band performing Guns n Roses' Sweet Child o' Mine. That's my nephew doing guitar solos. Forgive me for a moment for bragging but I can't help it I'm such a proud auntie.

What makes this so much more impressive is that this is a group of 12 and 13 year olds. Their lead singer has not yet even started 7th grade. Awesome!

Yay, we have another rock star in the family (his dad/my brother was a drummer in a punk band in Manila in the early 80's).

DadLabs

While browsing the internets last night I came upon this Hi-Larious video by the guys at DadLabs, a parenting site for dads. They do a lot of product testing (like the diaper pail sniff test) and discuss Dad-related parenting issues (how to feel like a man while driving a minivan). Check it out, they're pretty funny.

Lauren at 6 months

Hope everyone had a nice and relaxing Presidents' Day Weekend! I put this together to show you how much fun Lauren is at this age. These clips were taken in the last 2 weeks or so and pretty much captures what 6 months old is like.

We are so blessed to have family, friends, and colleagues that have been so supportive and generous during this special time. We had not one, not two...but FOUR baby showers thrown for us. My mom and sister-in-law, Jo Engebretson from my lab, my friend Veronica, and Peter's office all hosted baby showers for us and we had a great time at all of them.

The experience was all new to Peter since he'd never actively participated in a baby shower before. His officemates threw him a shower where I stepped aside and watched him open all the gifts and he was obviously thrilled at all the attention.
