In keeping with my original purpose of keeping this blog as a scrapbook of sorts, here are some pics from Lauren's 2nd Birthday.
It was a hot day in the 90's so we set up a few kiddie pools to keep cool. We also had water balloons, waterguns, sprinklers and the ultimate waterfight weapons: garden hoses. The kids (little ones and big ones) had fun splashing around.
Clockwise: Our kiddie pool set up (we had 3), Lauren and her cousin, with Mommy and Daddy, trying to figure out the watergun while grandma slathers on the sunscreen, Amelia (foreground) plans her next waterballoon attack.
Our menu started out simple but as usual, I complicated things when I tried to create a "theme." Why do I always end up making things difficult for myself? We originally were just gonna have hotdogs. Nice. Simple. Easy. But then I thought, "wouldn't it be cool if we had different kinds of hotdogs? Like Chicago Style...and New York Style and (who knew?) Korean style?!"
Whe ended up with about 7 styles of hotdogs and wrote out the instructions on little signs so guests could build their own. It was time consuming...but FUN! Who knew there was a Sonoran style hotdog? (with bacon, mayo, and tomatoes..sounds kinda gross, but it's yummy! really!)
My brother made the cutest cake, it had all of her favorite things: Lightnight McQueen, Puppies, Spongebob, flowers, and Curious George. She did a great job blowing out her candle (we'd been practicing for weeks!).
How did we spend her actual birthday? Why, what better place to celebrate a 2 year old's birthday than the buffet at an Indian Casino? Before you "tsk tsk" at me, they had all you can eat ribs! Yummy!
