Only 17 more days to go!

My homepage is set to I-google and every time I go online I am greeted with a pregnancy countdown widget reminding me just how pregnant I am (37 weeks and 4 days) and declaring the number of days to my due date. Today, the little pink square on the screen shouts out: ONLY 17 MORE DAYS TO GO!

I am now bursting with pregnancy. Contrary to what I was expecting, I am loving every minute of it. The swelling, bloating, sleeplessness, stretch marks, 100 degree sacramento summers, a bladder the size of a grape..those things aren't bothering me at all.

"Oh just you wait until the last month, you're going to hate it..." people have warned me. But no, even with 17 more days to go, I cherish every minute and am a little sad for it to end. Not because being pregnant gives me license to be spoiled and pampered, or that it brings out the courtesy and friendliness of complete strangers. This little creature inside of me constantly reminds of the goodness of God, the love of my husband, and the support of my family. Plus, I get to park in the 'expectant mother's only' parking spot at the mall.

I hope you enjoy this blog and join me on my journey towards first time mommyhood. I'll probably post often in the next 17 days right up until Pizza Delivery Day!

PS. if any of you are wondering what the "Pizza" is all about....We've been threatening the grandparents that we will name their grandchild "Pizza." It's the combination of our names (Pete + Riza...geddit?). People have dared us to do it...and we just might. Stay tuned!

I rather think Pizza is a unique name and even though there may be childish prodding of, "oh, are you combination or pepperoni..", I think it has a "ring" to it. No pun intended to in any way suggest "ring" as "round" as in pizza...

I think I will enjoy your blog. I smiled reading your story. Thanks for sharing all of you and family.

I didn't know there was special parking for pregnant mothers... Do you have to have a decal? Can I pretend to park there when I am in a hurry?

Hugs to you. My prayers to you and family.

Always, Uncle G.

Hello, Cuz! I am so glad that you created a blog so that the SoCal family can share in the joy! We are so excited for you and Peter! Can we add our two cents for the baby's name? To give it an Italian flair....if it's a boy then call him Domino with a middle name of Pizza? If he buys his first property in Hawaii then would it be....Domino Pizza's hut? OK OK! Just a little prego humor to get you thru 17 more days! Take care, God Bless, and our best to the familia!
Mahal lahat!

To George...no, you don't need a decal, but you will have to suffer the wrath of any pregnant woman with swollen legs and an aching back that happens to waddle by as you sneak away into the mall. :-)

How cute...I didn't get the "pizza" comment earlier. Good luck with rest of your pregnancy. I am so glad that you're taking it so well:) And thanks for keeping your friends updated with latest news...especially people who can't visit you often.
