The Joys (and Pains) of Breastfeeding

Yesterday I found myself hoping that Lauren's feedings would soon be further apart. Nursing every two or three hours was starting to wear me out and my nippies screamed in agony when she latched on. "Hurry up and grow up!" I found myself thinking...but then I stopped myself and realized that I shouldn't be rushing her to do anything! She's only going to be this little for such a short time and I should just sit back inhale every moment. How much longer would I be able to stroke her hairy ears while she nurses? When will she stop making her piggy snorts when she stops for a breath of air? Or grasp my thumb and dig her toenails into my side while she's suckling away? So i decided to take it like a woman, slap on some lanolin and nurse to my baby's heart's content.

Hi Ree

Been thinking about you and the buglet. She is just gorgeous. While I have no direct personal experience, my sister Michelle had a hard time with nursing, and actually gave up. She did have a really cool little pillow called a Boppie that according to others moms made nursing a tad more comfortable. We certainly found a way to make it work when feeding Jackson. Any way, hang in there. Glad to know you're both healthy and well.
