Well, I had my weekly OB appt yesterday and unfortunately there has been no progress since last week. My cervix has softened but not dilated at all yet. The baby's head is very low but not "Down." Doc says that baby is just having a good time in my belly and doesn't want to come out yet.
Her prediction: Nothing will be happening in the next week. If I still haven't delivered by next Friday 8/10, we'll talk about inducing. She always adds the disclaimer, "But you just never know...."
Experienced moms out there, did you experience contractions long before "real" labor? If so, how early did you start feeling them? I haven't felt a thing, not even Braxton Hicks. I once thought I felt something, but it turned out to be gas. :-)

Ya! Once you start getting contractions, you think it's time, frantically call the doctor who then asks, "Have they been coming every 10 minutes?" you reply, "no", and there is nothing more to be done! ... until the water breaks BEFORE the contractions, and then it's really time to go to the hospital, no questions asked!!!
Not to worry. It sounds like you have a at least 10-14 days until baby wants to come out. yeah, until your water breaks is the only time to you know 'it's time'. Regarding false contractions, some do, some don't. It's all so invidiualized. Good to hear your doing so well. It's just the wait that seems forever, but it's all normal. Thanks for the Simpson link; looks fun. Take care, momma...
I didnt know I was in labor. I was watching Conan O'brien, and my lower back started aching and usually if I change positions it would go away, but this time it didnt. But no pain...yet. I was scared to call my doctor so I didnt. I had to wake up Ed to time my Braxton Hicks and they were coming at a steady pace. I finally called my Dr around 2am and said Im having steady contractions but no pain. But it wasnt until I got to the L&D is when the pain started to come. Wowza!
