Weekend in Oaktown

My brother recently bought a new place in Oakland, just a few blocks from the Piedmont area's trendy shops and restaurants. We headed out there on Saturday with plans to spend the night and I was really excited. Peter had to do some wine stuff (it's bottling time!) in the afternoon so I was planning on taking Lauren out myself for a nice walk along Piedmont Ave to visit the shops. We had some exciting eating plans too. Perhaps have burgers for lunch at Barney's, tapas for dinner at Cesar and top it off with ice cream from Fentons.

It turned out to be a hot day (96 degrees in Oakland. OAKLAND!) and we were so tired and lazy that we ended up staying in all afternoon (Peter still had to do his wine stuff though). We made Vietnamese sandwiches for lunch and had some Indian food delivered for dinner and watched DVD's all day. We didn't get to do any of the things we had planned, but it was all just as good relaxing at home with the family.

The next day we headed to my other brother's house in Novato where we enjoyed another leisurely afternoon bbq'ing and hanging out with the family.

Please tell Lauren's mother thank you for leaving her poopie diaper in my bathroom trashcan without telling me. In case you're wondering, it didn't smell like roses.
